The legalization of medical marijuana is still fairly new in America, as a few states have actually allowed it. Medical marijuana is (for obvious insurance reasons) more expensive than its illegal counterparts, and difficult to acquire. Different types of medicinal are supposedly tailored to individual medical and psychological issues, so unless one is prescribed it is not encouraged to smoke medicinal. I had a connect from California through which I received medicinal and it was just so disappointing compared to the recreational bud that I continue to enjoy. Anyhow, let me focus again on the purpose of this post. I DON'T WANT RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA TO BE LEGALIZED. Crazy, I know. I think about marijuana being mainstream and it doesn't appeal to me. Yes, I think it would be cool to smoke a blunt outside in the cool mountain air without having to worry about going to jail. But I also like that not everyone is publicly smoking just for the fact that others can see them, if that makes sense. Smoking marijuana is done behind closed doors, and with people you trust and enjoy hanging out with, and that's how I like it. Contrary to some adult belief, not every teenager/college student/early 20 year old smokes pot. There are LOTS of people my age (19) who are completely repulsed by the idea and assume that anyone who partakes is unresponsible and immature. It's not the act that makes someone immature or mature, it's the individual and how they let marijuana affect them. It is possible to be a chronic and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle while also taking care of school responsibilities.
I have been smoking marijuana for a little over two years now, and since then my life has gotten better. My GPA is a 3.5 and has stayed the same or even improved throughout the years. Smoking marijuana really opens the mind up to a world of knowledge that was not apparent before. It gives the smoker a completely different outlook on the world and the way that it is meant to be viewed. Smoking alters the mind and the way that things are perceived through the smokers eyes, mouth, body, and ears. When high, there are lots of things that I think about that I would have never thought about while I was sober. It just makes you take a step back and really look at things for how they are. I have learned more about the way the Earth works and how to live a happy life through smoking and adventuring with my friends than school or parents could ever teach me. The people that are so against marijuana usually have not smoked it themselves, and have only heard the stereotypes. It can really make you think about some things and I honestly feel like I have learned a lot through smoking weed.
